Professional Development Awards
DCLFT provides scholarships for professional development of medical staff so that Tasmania maintains its leading-edge expertise in the treatment of leukaemia and care
of patients.
Awards, up to $1,500, are given to assist with professional development or attendance at conferences and events related to the improvement of leukaemia treatment, research or support, and may be used to assist with conference registration and accommodation.
Applications are open to all Tasmanian nurses, allied health professionals, research students, and Tasmanian health professionals working in the area of leukaemia and other blood cancers.
Preference will be given to applicants:
- Who demonstrate that the knowledge and skills acquired will be shared with their Tasmanian
colleagues and others concerned with blood cancer treatment or support - Who proposes co-funding arrangements (e.g. part employee, part employer)
- With a subject matter focus on patient care and/or new technical skills, e.g. emerging technologies and therapies relevant to this field of haematology.
Successful applicants will be:
- Required to provide a brief, plain English written report for possible release to Tasmanian media and publication in the DCLFT Newsletter and Annual Report.
- Expected to accept an invitation, within a reasonable time, from DCLFT to attend a meeting of members and discuss in a relaxed environment the benefits to patients and staff arising from their Award.
- Applications must include full costing and be accompanied by letters of support from two referees.

Study Day Seminars
The David Collins Leukaemia Foundation of Tasmania calls for applications for scholarships for Professional Study Day Seminars in leukaemia treatment, research or support. Applications are open to all Tasmanian nurses, allied health professionals, and Tasmanian health professionals working in day chemotherapy units.
Awards to the value of $1,500 will be given to assist applicants in organising their study
days for professional development directly related to the improvement of leukaemia treatment, research or support.
Awards may be used to assist with travel and accommodation for guest speakers or other costs associated with the staging of the study day (excluding registrants’ salaries). Further information and application forms are available to download from Awards and Grants.
Preference will be given to applicants:
- Organising professional development opportunities, which are not available in Tasmania
- Who includes registrants to the study day Statewide from all areas of the health sector
- Who proposes co-funding arrangements (eg: part employee, part employer)

- To provide a brief, plain English written report for possible release to Tasmanian media and publication in the DCLF Newsletter and Annual Report.
- To address a David Collins Leukaemia Foundation of Tasmania General Meeting on the benefits of their Award at a suitable time following its completion.
